Sketchbook: The Blocked & Reported New York Holiday Party
My friend Ethan suggested I attend a podcast gathering at Slattery's Pub in midtown on Saturday night. Here are my blurry -and almost certainly inaccurate- recollections of what unfolded...
📺 Episode #4 of Buddy VS Xmas is out on HBO Max. This episode pits Buddy and his merry crew of bakers against the guy who does the animatronic Macy’s Christmas window displays. He even had an elf hat that moved when he smiled.

Sketchbook: Stooping in New York City

This week’s Sketchbook is a random clump of hit-n-run sketches I did for a company at Chelsea Piers a few weeks back. I get hired to draw people from afar, then drop the sneaky portraits in their laps before slinking away. It’s fun (when it goes well...)
—And a special guest sketch from my very talented young nephew, Harry, who drew this in chalk on the pavement. He’s an excellent little artist.
While I do love the convenience of an iPad/Wacom/Xenselabs tablet… I can’t ever replicate the joy of using analog tools. I’m starting a new Substack in 2024 called “Process Junkie” to explore all of the joys of the Process of making art. If you’re interested in that kind of thing, you can sign up here.
