+ Morris is very happy with his warm-up portrait...
I hope you’re having a great week.
I’m typing this with an ice-pack on my shoulder having just got back from my first Pickleball face-off for the year. I broke in my new paddle and, I’m pretty sure, broke something in the process.

Meta finally releases their policy on AI Generated content.
Last June I was part of a committee advising on the policies Meta would be using with regard to AI generated content. This is where they landed…
In the coming months, we will label images that users post to Facebook, Instagram, and Threads when we can detect industry-standard indicators that they are AI-generated.
We’ve labeled photorealistic images created using Meta AI since it launched so that people know they are “Imagined with AI”.
You can rest assured, dear reader, that everything I share with you was made with my two very goofy-looking human hands. I am not a Luddite, or by any means a wholesale ‘anti-A.I.’ person, (I’ve always been a staunch advocate for digital creative technologies, and still am) but I do think there are long strides to go to ensure ethical development —and use— of the technology is embedded in the policies of everything we use. (If you’re interested, you can see more of my thoughts on the development of A.I. Art-generators here.)

This week’s Sketchbook is from an event I attended last December
While I do love the convenience of an iPad/Wacom/Xenselabs tablet… I can’t ever replicate the joy of using analog tools. I’m launching a new Substack called “Process Junkie” to explore all of the joys of the Process of making art. If you’re interested in that kind of thing, you can sign up here.
Until next time,
Your pal,
Jason
yay Hilary Price!!!!!
