#373: Game Show Cartoons, A New Yorker Party, Toddler Claws & Worf as a Swan!
+ Morris has a happy dream and I draw at a wedding in New Jersey
…from the dressing room on set of an international hosting gig for IBM in Brooklyn. I hope you’re having a great week and your eyes aren’t also about to fall out.
More than a few of you asked about Sophie’s cross-stitched masterpiece of Morris at the bottom of last week’s email. (He was clearly rapt) Here’s a closer look at her handiwork…

This is what our dog looks like after you drop acid.
The New Yorker Turned 99 This Week!
To mark the occasion, I wrote up my notes from last year’s 98th birthday party at the World Trade Center:
Dinner with the Gerbergs
Mort and Judith Gerberg were back in New York for a minute, so we got to join them for dinner. You can learn more about Mort here:
Police Rescue Toddler Stuck Inside Claw Machine… Again?
My friend Leith shared this story from Australia and it struck me that it was a story I’d already read before…
Then it hit me— I’d drawn a cartoon about the exact same scenario back in 2018 for MAD Magazine.
GameStack
This Week’s
featured a lot of Game Show cartoons. In celebration of America's biggest game... and show... the Superbowl, I've drawn a cartoon featuring three of the most important people in the sport. (My friend Darren, who is a choreographer, was excited to pose for the last one.)
This week’s Sketchbook is a warm-up sketch I did of Worf from Star Trek as a swan. Thanks to Ronny Chieng for the stupid idea.
Aaaaand here’s one from a wedding I was drawing at on Sunday.
While I do love the convenience of an iPad/Wacom/Xenselabs tablet… I can’t ever replicate the joy of using analog tools. I’m launching a new Substack called “Process Junkie” to explore all of the joys of the Process of making art. If you’re interested in that kind of thing, you can sign up here.
Until next time,
Your pal,
Jason
Your career diversity astounds me.
And that cross-stitch is fab.
