#382: Seinfeld's Movie, Airmail in NYC, Backyard Comedy, The Vessel of Death & more!
+ Creatives leave Instagram, Picture This! has a Birthday & Morris reads about Dogs
…from the new official Airmail store on Hudson Street in the village. I hope you’re having a great week, and are also not playing pickleball like a 95-year-old librarian. I heard something pop on my final serve yesterday, so today I’m just waiting for a bruise to form so I know whereabouts on my body the noise came from.
I mentioned I’m at the Airmail location in New York— it’s on 546 Hudson Street, right near where the New Yorker team plays softball. This follows the success of their other locations in Milan, and on “a quaint stretch of Chiltern Street, in the heart of the Marylebone neighborhood of London”. (I’ll be visiting the London location in a couple of weeks!)
You can see some of my cartoons from Airmail here.
1. Comedy Shows:
This weekend is Picture This’ Birthday show. See below for details. Also… I wrote the following about pop-up comedy shows:"
2. The Vessel is re-opening:
Sorry, a kind of depressing one, but it’s a big talking point among New Yorkers right now…
Picture This Birthday Show!
If you’re someone who’s said “Hey, let me know when you’re doing a show next!”— this is the one to come to. It’s this Saturday at Union Hall in BK. It’s going to be big! Click the poster below for more details.
Instagram is dead to us... so what's next for creatives?
Creative Boom did a survey on why Instagram is now useless for creative artists reaching their audience. (They literally used the word "useless”.) I do hate the term ‘creatives’, but it does the job, I guess. You can read more about the findings here.

Jerry’s Movie is finally coming out!
In early 2023 I was at Gotham Comedy Club when Jerry Seinfeld dropped in to do some new material. At the end of his set he mentioned there was a movie called Unfrosted he’d that was coming out soon. Then the writers’ strike, well, struck. It has been over a year and it looks like it’s finally coming out on Netflix on May 1. I just learned Ronny has a part in it. You can read more about it below:
This week’s Sketchbook is a selection from my Paris Sketchbooks. You can find them all here.
While I do love the convenience of an iPad/Wacom/Xenselabs tablet… I can’t ever replicate the joy of using analog tools. I’m launching a new Substack called “Process Junkie” to explore all of the joys of the Process of making art. If you’re interested in that kind of thing, you can sign up here.
Until next time,
Your pal,
Jason
