Thanks for the dazzling recap of the NYC party I clearly should’ve attended but was, in some cosmic clerical error, left off the list. Tragic oversight. I had opinions, wit, and heels (ruby, sparkles) that could’ve changed the course of the evening.
Couldn't agree more, it's so refreshing to hear someone talk about writer autonomy instead of just chasing engagement, though I sometimes wonder how you build a thriving comunitate without *any* platform curation.
I think we all now need to have our favorite color ready and poised in case we are randomly asked to present it (possibly along with our ID and medical insurance cards)
Thank you for posting this Jason! It gives me such hope for this platform. I’m a total newbie at this and I have a dumb question. Actually several dumb questions. Am I “on Substack?” Or do I have a Substack?
If I write a note, can anyone see it? Or only my (8) followers/subscribers? Thanks again. I enjoy your writing! And there’s nothing wrong with teal. It’s the color of the most beautiful ocean waters.
“I don’t know what’s weirder—that he could do that, or that I immediately went to ‘teal.’” Yeah I’m wondering that too…
I still can’t make heads or teals of it.
This is a great and useful summary, Jason. Thank you.
i'm in nyc, wish i knew about this! fab write up :) xo
Ping @Matt Starr @Sophia Efthimiatou :)
I found out you were in NYC at the event! And I said the same thing out loud—wish you had been there! xx

Maybe, just maybe Substack will continue to be different. God, I hope so. We need it to be, don’t we. Great read Jason, thank you (although, teal!?)
I know 😬 Don’t know what I was thinking.
(It’s Forrest Green)
Forrest green is a much better choice!

Hmmm...you've almost convinced me to come back to Substack ...

I assume my name was one of the favorite writers you mentioned. 😎
Seriously, thanks for this. Nicely done!
Of course!
I can’t tell if you’re kidding. Either way, keep up the good work, brother.
I was being serious! Haha sorry I know my default state is sarcastic.
You’re a real one, sir.
