Even Morris looks happy for the good news! But, to be honest, I would probably sneak just a little peek at the AI guy falling into the toilet - nobody says you shouldn't use a muse once in a while ... (I'm sorry...). Thank you, again, for explaining this so we all can understand it and with a little humor tucked in; you're the best!

Not to distract from the topic, but I just gotta say Morris is one handsome dude!

Agreed. The most handsomest.

🎉 It seems to me that having to explain which pixels were generated by AI and which were drawn by a human hand is a complete waste of time. Magazines, etc., should issue a loud Mea Culpa and hire their illustrators and cartoonists back! I suspect AI is good for something, but it’s not drawing, writing, or apparently auto-directing massive weaponry systems.

I am glad for the ruling but I am less optimistic about its long-term ramifications. I suspect it will be similar to copyright claims when someone digitally alters a photograph they did not take and then copyrights the resulting image. Somewhere there is a line between original photograph (or AI-generated image), which is not copyrightable by the Photoshopper, and the end image, which is.

On the bright(ish) side, this might prompt the hiring of skilled digital artists as "fixers" to make the AI-generated slop not look so AI-generated, so nobody asks any questions when the company tries to copyright it anyway.

So when do we get to see your drawing of the guy falling into the toilet?

What makes you think it was a guy?

Come to think of it, I have no idea!

Yes, relief.
